Piero Fornasetti used this motif for the first time in 1954 for the decoration of his "Geometric" screen. Variations on the chessboard theme and perceptual illusions play on the contrast between black and white. A foray into abstract, minimalist and contemporary art, without renouncing Fornasetti's eccentric spirit.
