Giacomo Puccini's last opera, Turandot (1926), is notable for its setting at the Chinese imperial court. The taste for the exotic and the richness of the court are paid tribute to by the design of the wallcovering of the same name, which features a motif of slipper skin - a classic Armani aesthetic, but also a symbol of prestige and refinement in oriental countries since ancient times - on a background of silk and lurex. The embossed texture is obtained thanks to a precise silk-screen printing process directly on silk fibres using 3D expanding inks, an absolute novelty for Armani/Casa.
