This wall covering - dedicated to Loreley (1890), an opera by Alfredo Catalani - was made using the ancient technique of fil posé, further enriched by the use of silk threads, which is unusual in this production process. The colour palette alternates bright and pastel tones, neutral gradients and flowing shades inspired by the plot of the opera itself, whose protagonist is a girl transformed into a fairy after her marriage to the river Rhine: spells and watery reflections define a dreamlike atmosphere, celebrated by this wallcovering whose design comes from the reinterpretation of an ikat effect on a macro scale.
