Rose is a magnificent layered design with sumptuous tulip and rose heads and dramatic thorny stems. William Morris's close observation of the everyday dramas of nature is evident here in the pair of cheerful birds playing amongst the thicket.
Originally designed by Morris as a furniture fabric in 1883, Rose was used extensively in the drawing room of Sir Emery Walker, Morris's prominent typographer and friend. Rose re-enters the Morris & Co range for the first time in many years exclusively for Emery Walker's House collection.
