From pottery to weaving Bambara women are the main pottery artisans in Kalabougou, a village on the banks of the Niger River. The clay pots, of all imaginable sizes and shapes, cross the waters of the Niger every week on their way to the market in Ségou. Their incisions and the color of the clay inspire the medallions of our Bambara fabric, with a pattern intentionally blurred on cotton and manufactured in double width to multiply the possibilities of its decorative use.
