This creation depicts with astonishing fidelity and detail the figure of the fierce gladiators. Warriors who defended their lives by fighting against themselves or against dangerous beasts for the entertainment of the Roman people. This sculpture recalls the existence of men who defended their lives with honour and integrity, despite the circumstances in which they lived. Made of black porcelain, it has been decorated with copper, bluing and black enamels with a metallic effect, combined with antique silver lustre for the armour. The shield is painted with marble-effect black lustre and the helmet is also decorated with antique silver lustre. The sword, which almost looks metallic, is also made of porcelain. In addition, a metal mask has been created to cover his face, which can be removed and put on thanks to an ingenious system of magnets. A work without equal, impressive for its size and sculptural treatment.
