Durga, the goddess who eliminates the sufferings of all beings on earth, who protects the righteous and establishes good and order, has been a challenge and an honour for the artists at Lladró. Crafted in a combination of matt and glossy porcelain, Goddess Durga sits atop a spectacular feline with striking blue eyes, symbolising the will and determination of the goddess. The eight arms with which she is depicted, each bearing the different powers lent to her by the gods, seem to have movement, while the body and countenance of the goddess convey kindness and calm. The composition is decorated with the intense reds of Hindu iconography and a palette of colours that includes gradient browns, turquoises and mauves. Tones that are reinforced with gold lustres, carefully applied, and a garland of flowers composed of 280 white petals and 7 roses. In addition to the delicate lotus flower that she holds in one of her hands. All the flowers are handmade, petal by petal.
