The colouring and decoration of the piece are inspired by the majesty of the peacock's plumage, through the application of different techniques, from enamels in various shades of green, blue and ochre, to the use of coloured varnishes and metallic lustre. The complex and brilliant interplay of shades and colour ranges culminates in the aged golden lustre that reinforces the sensation of nobility and solemnity that the figure inspires.
