Ganesha, the worshipped Hindu god of wisdom and knowledge, is depicted in this work on a delicate lotus flower, a symbol of serenity and gentleness. In addition to the elaboration of the lotus flower, which involves great difficulty given the large size and fragility of the petals, this piece is notable for the precision with which the details that constitute the god's attributes are reproduced: the gada (mace), the pasha (rope or noose) and the split tusk. The decoration includes such characteristic shades of Hindu iconography as saffron and a special intense red.
