Made from hand-spun Tibetan wool, Semis is time-consuming to construct, using the fine but remarkably strong Tibetan knotting technique. The intentional irregularity of the cut edges creates a beautifully random surface with a handcrafted feel. For the designers, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, it is the shape of the stitches, the embellishment and the fact that several different weavers will create each rug, which gives each Semis rug a special, personal touch.
