Sisal, a natural fibre with a rich history rooted in the Mayan culture, is the material of our new collection of HENEKEN made-to-measure carpets and rugs. Native to the Yucatan peninsula, sisal is also called "Henequen"
The influence of sisal in the region was so significant that the port of Sisal became a key point for the export of the fibre in the last century. So much so that Henequen ended up being called Sisal all over the world. However, despite its historical importance, sisal production has declined dramatically in recent decades. At KP we are committed not only to transforming this fibre into high quality custom-made carpets, but also to collaborating in the project to revitalise its production in the region.
In line with our commitment to sustainability, clean energy is used during the fibre transformation process thanks to the installation of solar panels that cover 100% of the energy needs.
As made-to-measure carpets need to be finished. Although the options are all, the finishes + MICROFIBRE, STRONG and SUPER & MINI FEST are sure to meet expectations.
Sisal has been recognised by the FAO as one of the fibres of the future, which underlines its importance in the textile industry. With the HENEKEN collection, we not only honour the history and nobility of sisal, but we are also committed to promoting its use and consumption, ensuring a sustainable future for this natural fibre.
