Made by the duo of designers Doshi Levien, Lila and Raas are vibrant upholstery textiles with an exceptional color history.
Both Lila and Raas combine two voluminous unicolored threads: a regular thread in the plot and a flamed thread of irregular texture in the warp. This gives them a touch and living surface that has a feeling of bouclé and the fresh touch of the linen.Although textiles share the same construction and combine well, they are markedly individual. While Raas is densely woven with a precise square expression that balances with the slight irregularity of a flamed thread, Lila has a striated pattern similar to the ikat and a more relaxed character.To realize his vision, Doshi Levien mixed more than 100 gouache colors by hand and then hand painted them in samples. These were used as a reference in production to dye the yarn with great precision, resulting in sophisticated and elegant colors that cannot be found in any existing color system.
