VOLUMEN IV
The idea of an illustrated field came to my head when I designed the new collection. We usually associate smooth and pale fabrics for the field, but I wanted textures, neutral but vibrant colors and very subtle geometries in ton sur ton.
Thus, designs such as the wools in broken whites or blues, cottons with threads embroidered in stripes or geometrical and false smooth with a lot of texture. Spain is a country of deep tradition of field, hunting and horses, and wanted to be able to offer a collection inspired by those masías, cortijos, quintas and farmhouses, where the decoration is renewed and modernized.
And since I do not conceive a completely smooth field, I wanted to mix with prints whose inspiration comes from many different sources. Thus, the vase of peoniah on a porcelain of Delf recalls the purest English tradition of countryside. However, embroidered Japanese lacquer vases have a richer and more sophisticated point, product of the influences of China Trade. Also the pattern on linen flowers to the Luis XVI mode with a very careful color palette, nothing conventional, in a pale yellow, marsala, green grass and blue cerúleo.
My collections have to have velvets, abundance of them, therefore, the vegetable velvet with Venetian and Turkish inspiration, like those used in the palace of the Dogos. And more urban and modern the velvet with drawing of paintings, with memories to the High Decoration of the mid 20th century in America and France.
In short, it is a timeless, intellectual and refined collection that, although thought for a very sophisticated field, can be mixed and changed concept by adapting it to an international urban space.
